DEPTH OF FIELD is our latest addition to the ARTE NOIR editorial, where we will share photo essays from talented Black photographers from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Expect to see images from live events, including concerts, arts and culture, and more. First up, we are excited to introduce our readers to the talents of Eli Branch IV of EB4 Photography.
Eli recently covered Rapsody's "Please Don't Cry" tour, which came through The Crocodile here in Seattle on October 17th. Below he shares a photo essay and a few words about the performance. Please enjoy!
Rapsody blessed her Seattle fans with a stop on her "Please Don't Cry" tour at The Crocodile. I was fortunate to be there to witness her full arsenal of skills and talents. Her Masterful lyricism, confident stage presence, and effortless crowd control were to be expected. What surprised me was how Rapsody's relatable sense of humor and quick wit also shone through, making the night even more memorable. Between songs, she had the crowd in stitches with her witty banter and relatable anecdotes.
Rapsody also kept it real with the audience and shared some insight into her personal life, successes, and challenges. At one point, she shared a touching story about a family member's declining health. Although it has been a struggle to see that person change, she holds on to all the good times she shared with that family member. It was a heartwarming reminder to appreciate this one life we have and be grateful for the people we get to share it with.
