THE TIES THAT BIND US: WOVEN STORIES OF CELEBRATION
September 13, 2023 - January 7, 2024
This exhibition celebrated the diversity of fiber art, as expressed by artists working in a variety of media. The curatorial team's goal was to create a space where each artist could share their unique vision of fiber art, free from any constraints. The artworks displayed reflected the artists' individual creativity and passion for this medium.
The Pacific Northwest African American Quilters (PNWAAQ) is a group of African American Quilters who use quilting and other fiber art to express themselves through their history, experiences and hopes for the future. They come from all over the United States and the world, and each artist brings their unique style to their work. The PNWAAQ’s quilts, along with other fiber art are beautiful and powerful, and they tell stories that need to be heard.
