SUPPORT ARTE NOIR

CONNECT WITH THE SOULFULNESS + POWER OF BLACK ART

Founded in 2021 as an online magazine dedicated to spotlighting and uplifting art and culture from the African diaspora, in 2022, ARTE NOIR expanded its footprint with a physical space in the Central District, the heart of Seattle’s historic Black community.

Our mission is to be a gathering place for exploring the dynamic creativity of the African diaspora, with the added component of a gallery showcasing Black art, a retail space generating revenue for Black artists, and creating room for training and serving the needs of the Black creative community.

Expansion of the ARTE NOIR legacy space is now complete. A small recording studio for the purpose of training young people in audio and music production, as well as an art + maker space for classes and artist use, now complement the gallery and retail store.

The Source of Labor recording studio honors the life and musical legacy of Jonathan Moore. The Barbara Earl Thomas art + maker space pays homage to native Seattleite and one of the Pacific Northwest's most prolific visual artist.
